A boutique hotel in Bali, built around something someone tried to hide. Sixty-six rooms. One of them is booked forever.
Everything here is for rent. Even this.
Below: merely luxury.
Sixty-six rooms.
Every crack leads to the same point.
One room is taken.
Forever.
Amogus Suites is a boutique hotel in Pererenan, on the quiet road between Canggu and Ubud, where the rice terraces stop pretending to be scenery.
Sixty-six rooms. A desk carved from a stone nobody agreed to move. A spa that stays warm at hours when nothing is switched on. Everything you would want from a very good hotel, arranged around one detail that the drawings keep failing to explain.
They call this place a hotel. That is its cover.
We are opening in 2027. Until then the file stays open, the correspondence stays private, and the guest list stays short. You are welcome to read over our shoulder.

The stone was here before we were. The architects proposed removing it, then proposed building around it, then stopped proposing things.

Guests are told the structure above the water is a shade canopy. It is, among other things.

Warm at every hour, including the hours when nothing at all is switched on. The engineers have stopped filing reports about it.

Every book on the west wall is real. Eleven of them are also something else. Guests are welcome to look for the eleven.

A suite on the fourth floor. The mezzanine was not in the drawings submitted to the district office.

The courtyard at night. The floor was repoured twice. The seam came back both times, in the same place.
Sixty-six places. One for every room. Leave your trace now and receive special terms on your first booking when we open.
Name and address into the list. Nothing else is asked of you, and nothing else is kept.
A number between one and sixty-six is assigned to you and to no one after you.
Every few weeks a fragment of the file arrives. Some of it is about the hotel.
At opening, your terms are already written. You will not be asked to negotiate.
